Nintendo Have Unveiled The First Look At The Nintendo Switch 2

After what seems like years of rumours, speculation and leaks, Nintendo have surprised us with the official unveiling of their next console. The Nintendo Switch 2.

The first-look trailer shows off the console from all angles and highlights a number of it’s new features, giving us a great look at what we can look forward to when it launches later in 2025.

New Features

Based on what can be seen in the reveal. The Nintendo Switch 2 will feature a larger screen, new larger stand that seems to accomodate wider viewing angles, larger joy cons that now feature magnetic connections and a satisfying click to the console. There wasn’t really a look at new software for the device outside of a glimpse at what appears to be a brand new Mario Kart game.

Nintendo Switch 2 Revealed

The trailer mentions that there will be games that will be coming to the Switch 2 exclusively, as well as it having the ability to play physical and digital games from the original Switch console. There is also the caveat that mentions that certain Switch games won’t be compatible with the new device. We’ll have to wait for more information in the future to learn which games won’t be compatible and/or why.

The end of the trailer also revealed that there will be a Nintendo Switch 2 focussed Direct coming on Wednesday 2nd of April. So mark it on your calendars because that’s when we’ll get to understand a lot more about what this console can do, and most importantly, what games are planned in the near future for the system. 

Nintendo have also announced they will be holding Nintendo Switch 2 Experience events at various cities around the world where people will be able to get their hands on the Switch 2 and give it a try pre-release.

The Nintendo Switch 2 is currently set to launch some time in 2025.
