New Silent Hill Transmission Gives Us a Great Look at Silent Hill f

on

After initially being revealed back in October of 2022, we have heard nothing since regarding Konami’s upcoming Silent Hill f. That is until today’s new Silent Hill Transmission which gave us not only a decent look at the game thanks to a lengthy trailer, but also a look at it’s world, setting and inspirations via interviews with the game’s script writer Ryukishi07 and composer Akira Yamaoka who has returned to create key sections of the game’s score.

The transmission revealed that Silent Hill f is set during the 1960s in the fictional town of Ebisugaoka, Japan, which was inspired by Kanayama, Gero, in Gifu Prefecture.

The game follows Hinako Shimizu, a high school student who navigates the town, now consumed by the franchise’s iconic mysterious fog, and forced to solve puzzles and fight grotesque monsters to try and survive.

I’m very excited to see where the story goes, especially as it was mentioned numerous times during the presentation that we should expect numerous twists and turns in the story, have plenty of questions along the way and mainly because it’s being written by Ryukishi07, who is known for his Higurashi and Umineko series of visual novels, and I loved the story in each of those.

On top of that, given that Silent Hill f is the first Silent Hill game to get an 18+ rating certification in Japan, it has me very keen to see what deep and dark themes the game is set to explore this time around.

No release date was revealed for the game yet. But given that the team were all talking about the game in the past tense, indicating it’s likely very far in development or possibly complete, that it’s been rated and has published PC spec information, I’m hoping the game is coming very soon.
