All The Announcements From Nintendo’s September 2025 Direct

on

Earlier today, Nintendo delivered a new Nintendo Direct. Despite hosting both a Partner Showcase and Indie World Showcase Direct in July, this was the one a lot of people were waiting for, knowing that it would come with a look at the future for many of Nintendo’s biggest franchises, be over 60 minutes long and give us updates on games we already knew were coming. And it certainly delivered on that.

The presentation kicked off with a segment honoring Mario’s 40th anniversary, hosted by Shigeru Miyamoto himself. It came with a bunch of new announcements for media featuring everyone’s favourite plumber.

Miyamoto discussed some new features coming to Tokyo’s Nintendo Museum and Super Nintendo Worlds before revealing…

Super Mario Galaxy Is The Next Movie – Coming April 2026

The new film is currently set to launch April 3rd next year.

Then the Mario announcements just kept coming.

Both games will feature improved UI, the option to play with button and stick or motion controls, new Storybook content and enhanced resolution. The Switch 2 version will also have support for 4K resolution. The game will be available on October 2nd this year and will be available as a combined pack when purchased physically or can be purchased individually if buying digitally on the eShop.

Alongside the announcement, it was also revealed that Mario and Rosaline Amiibo figures will be coming next April as well as a physical illustrated hardcover version of Rosalina’s Storybook from the game.

Mario Tennis Fever – Coming to Nintendo Switch 2

A new Mario Tennis title featuring 38 playable characters is on the way. There are multiple modes to enjoy including Tournament, Trial Towers, Mix It Up mode and Adventure mode, where Mario and friends are transformed into babies and must defeat monsters to return to normal.

Mario Tennis Fever launches for Nintendo Switch 2 on 12th February, 2026.

Super Mario Bros Wonder Nintendo Switch 2 edition + Meetup In Bellabel Park

The new version of Super Mario Wonder is set to launch in Autumn next year for the Nintendo Switch 2 and has expanded content where you can enjoy a variety of attractions in the Bellabel Park plaza that lets you team up with friends and family.

And Nintendo are also releasing physical toys of the Talking Flowers from Super Mario Wonder. Also coming next Autumn.

A New Yoshi Game Is On The Way

The trailer reveals a gorgeous looking platformer that seems to be set in a storybook world. The official Nintendo description states: One day, on the island where Yoshi and his friends live, a peculiar talking book named Mr. E suddenly falls from the sky. This mysterious book’s pages contain information about unusual creatures, so Yoshi decides to jump in and help investigate. Join Yoshi for a new adventure when Yoshi and the Mysterious Book launches on Nintendo Switch 2 in autumn 2026.

That wrapped up the Mario focused portion of the Direct. The show then moved on to some announcements for the Nintendo Switch 1 console.

Pacify ghosts with the Camera Obscura and explore abandoned buildings shrouded in darkness, with remade exploration and combat elements. FATAL FRAME II: Crimson Butterfly REMAKE launches on Nintendo Switch 2 in early 2026.
