Rebel Wolves has officially unveiled its most detailed look yet at Blood of Dawnwalker, using its “Road to Launch” livestream to showcase new gameplay, a fresh story trailer, and confirm the game’s release date and editions.
The upcoming dark fantasy RPG, developed by a team of former The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt developers, is aiming to carve out its own space in the genre with a heavy focus on player choice, time pressure, and a dual human-vampire gameplay structure.
Story Trailer
The new story trailer shows off more of the backstory and what we’ll be experiencing as Coen, a man struggling to save his family while battling a growing vampiric curse.
Set in a grim, plague-ridden world inspired by the 14th century, Blood of Dawnwalker leans into a darker, more personal narrative. Rather than positioning players as a traditional hero, the game frames its story around survival and sacrifice in a land ruled by vampire elites.
The trailer emphasises those stakes, highlighting the tension between holding onto humanity and embracing the power that comes with becoming something else.
Gameplay Overview
The gameplay overview revealed during the livestream centers on a key mechanic: players switch between human and vampire states depending on the time of day.
During daylight hours, combat is more grounded, focusing on swordplay and measured use of abilities. At night, gameplay shifts significantly, unlocking enhanced mobility, more aggressive combat options, and vampiric powers that change how players approach encounters and exploration.
This dual structure isn’t just cosmetic. It affects how players engage with quests, navigate the world, and interact with characters.
One of the more notable systems is the game’s built-in time constraint. Players have 30 in-game days to progress through the story, with each major action advancing the clock.
According to Rebel Wolves, the system is designed to create meaningful decisions rather than restrict players outright. It’s not expected that players will see everything in a single playthrough. Instead, the game encourages prioritization, with choices carrying long-term consequences.
Some storylines may evolve or resolve without player involvement, depending on how time is spent.
A Reactive World and Branching Narrative
Beyond its core mechanics, it was also shown off how Blood of Dawnwalker emphasises player agency across the board.
The showcase highlighted:
• Branching questlines with multiple outcomes
• NPCs that react dynamically to player decisions
• Faction systems that influence the world state
• Separate progression paths for human and vampire abilities
• Optional romance arcs tied to key characters
Rebel Wolves describes the structure as a “narrative sandbox,” where player choice plays a central role in shaping the story.
Release Date
Blood of Dawnwalker is set to launch on September 3, 2026, for PC, PlayStation 5, and Xbox Series X|S.
Alongside the date, Rebel Wolves confirmed multiple editions of the game:
• Standard Edition, which includes the base game
• Deluxe Edition, featuring digital extras like cosmetics, a soundtrack, and additional in-game content
• Collector’s Edition, offering physical items such as a statue, art book, and other themed collectibles

Based on what was shown during the “Road to Launch” event, Blood of Dawnwalker is shaping up to be an ambitious entry in the RPG space.
Its combination of a time-limited narrative, dual gameplay styles, and a focus on meaningful choice sets it apart from more traditional open-world RPGs. Whether those systems come together successfully remains to be seen, but the early showing suggests Rebel Wolves is aiming high.
With a confirmed release date now in place, players won’t have to wait too long to see how it all comes together.
