Hot on the heels of Geoff Keighley’s Game Awards occurring later this week will be the first ever Kinda Funny Games Showcase. Taking place Saturday December 8th, 2018 at 10am PST (that’s 5am Sunday morning for us Aussies) this digital conference hosted by the entertaining Greg Miller and Tim Gettys from Kinda Funny and will feature over 60 games according to the press release for the event.
With PlayStation taking a year off from PSX, Kinda Funny stepped up to give game developers and publishers a platform to showcase their upcoming games.
In a statement about the event Kinda Funny’s Greg Miller said:
The Game Awards take care of all the huge news, announcements, and trailers, and then PSX offers a lower key, fan/dev-focused event where other — often smaller — games can shine.
If 60+ announcements wasn’t enough to get you interested it has been revealed that nearly ‘half a dozen’ titles will be releasing during the showcase.
The full showcase is planned to be over an hour long sponsor-free stream that will highlight the games fans should be excited for in the coming year.
Although Greg states it’s focus is on ‘smaller games’ there are some big publishers and popular studios presenting their games during the showcase with the likes of Sega (Sonic, Yakuza), Humble Bundle (A Hat In Time), Drinkbox Studios (Guacamelee), Devolver Digital (Hotline Miami, Gris), Kitfox Games (Boyfriend Dungeon), Bithell Games (Volume, Thomas Was Alone), Outer Loop (Falcon Age) and Futurlab (Velocity 2X) confirmed to be participating in the showcase.
