Ever since it was revealed to be happening years ago, the Final Fantasy 7 Remake has been rumoured to be release either in stages, or in an episodic format.
While the Square Enix conference earlier today spent a decent amount of time showcasing the title, which is shaping up to look pretty incredible, the release plans weren’t discussed in much detail.
It was mentioned on stage that the team’s ambition wouldn’t fit on a single Blu-Ray and would require multiple discs, but the messaging around the naming of the game and it’s marketing hadn’t been too clear if we would be getting the full Remake experience when it launches on March 3rd next year or not.
Following the conference, the official press release seems to confirm that the title showcased appears to be the “First Game”
“The first game in this project will be set in the eclectic city of Midgar and presents a fully standalone gaming experience that provides a great starting point to the series.”
Fingers crossed we don’t have to wait years in between each entry, because it looks fantastic so far and I want to play it right now.
